Adjust Your Approach to Triggers and Change Your Mindset

You decide to make a change in your life. It’s a big deal and you wanna go for it; but, you don’t know how, and you’ve not been provided the steps on how to make this change. You hear about adjusting your mindset, and attmept to create the change. However, it backfires and you feel like a failure. So, now what. It’s not to say that you’re unintelligent, and assuming that you have all the answers is unfair. We all have expertise, something that we’re amazing at.

Adjust Your Mindset

Can you hear your inner wisdom
Adjust change mindset channel

The old idea (fake it until you make it) is fading away and authenticity is much more powerful. It doesn’t mean that you have to have all the answers. I love driving my car, but I don’t desire to be the one to repair it when it breaks down; therefore, I go to an expert called the mechanic. It’s a win-win.

The same thing is true about how to identify what’s  a trigger. As well as how to effectively dissolve the trigger in a manner that works, and is not destructively ineffective.

Thus, this allows you to break a pattern. It is the acknowledgement and the recognition that brings forth the healing. This allows you to move through your emotions and feelings in a positive manner when you’re able to identify what upsets you and/or creates anxiety.

It’s going to be okay, and it’ll take a bit of adjustment and some time. Soon you’ll be about work with and through your emotions. This empowers your own personal development. Which can set you eons apart from those who have not learned how to effectively communicate with their inner being and soul.

How incredible is that? I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to be able to share this personal development tool and help your soul grow. Self-compassion and self-love are powerful empowerment tools.

Be patient with yourself. It takes time to unravel and undo learned behaviors and patterns. Think of this as a way to adjust your thought patterns from a negative to a more positive solution and outcome.

How to recognize a trigger:

Fluid Movement Flower Delicate

A trigger is when you feel uncomfortable. As if you’re feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, afraid, anxious, or mad. Basically it’s your emotions. Next time you get triggered go through this process.

  • Stop allowing your emotions to control you.
  • Except that you have emotions.
  • Recognize that using your emotions to feel is your superpower.
  • Recognize when you feel uncomfortable.
  • Allow yourself to feel: whether it be sad, mad, happy.
  • Be honest with yourself. For example if a friend or relative shares good news and you feel envious. That’s an emotional trigger
  • Have you realized that when you’re having a conversation with another that a particular emotion or feeling emotes sensation that is uncomfortable and you just wished end the conversation as soon as possible?
  • Have you realized that when you were hanging out with family or friends that a particular conversation is uncomfortable, and you feel?

Moving Through the Trigger

A great way to recognize emotional triggers is to journal. Use one of the writing prompts below or free write. Have a conversation with yourself on a piece of paper. This is a great way for you to express how you’re feeling, what emotions are showing up for you, in a safe manner that is reflective and constructive. Practice a conversation that you would like to have with someone in the mirror or in your journal but do not create a false expectation. you are not in control of anyone else’s reactions emotions or feelings. You can only take care of you in this manner, and that’s okay.

Writing Prompts:

  1. Write about a conversation you wish you could have.
  2. Create a timeline of small events that led up to a big event in your life.
  3. Write a poem about the greatest joy or the greatest sorrow in your life right now.
  4. Describe your greatest insecurity and why you struggle with it.
  5. Choose a song that emotes deep emotions. Why does it?
  6. What is your greatest source of guilt and how can you forgive yourself?

Maybe journaling is not your thing. Doddle an image and add words to this image.

Gentle Reminder:

Be sure to recognize. Every pattern and trigger has a cycle, and when you are learning, there may be an old pattern that wishes to stop the cycle. Disallow this occurrence. When you stop a cycle this cycle will recycle. This is part of personal development and soul growth that until the lesson is learned it will continue onward at any cost; however when you are learning I’m you stop the cycle this can create more havoc than is necessary. Allow yourself to release, let’s go of the outcomes and expectations and flow into the experience. It takes time to adjust I’m not okay one step at a time is better than no steps or motion at all.

Monkey Mind Magical Blessings Mindfulness Mindful Self-Aware Mental Health Stress Anxiety

How the “Monkey Mind” Causes Stress

In the Ten Minute Angelic Tea Prayer we discussed and discovered a way for you to enjoy a quiet moment.

This gives you a chance to take a deep reflective breath.

Let’s dive even deeper.

Your Monkey Mind is Causing Stress

The simplest way to describe mindful breathing is to focus on your breath: Inhale and exhale.

Let’s look at what happens when the brain is tired and stressed.

Monkey mind causes stresss Brain smagical blessings mindful cognitive mindfulness mindful activity

This metacognition distortion can be called the “Monkey-Mind”: Which means unsettled, restless, indecisive.  It can decrease attention spans, memory and the ability to adequately learn. Basically, this causes mental chaos and leaves you scrambling, anxious, and even possibly depressed.

Take a moment and think about it.

Negative Affects of Stress and the “Monkey Mind”

You are super tired, so you drink extra coffee or consume an energy drink. You have so much going on that you are drained and the thought of cooking dinner upsets you. So, you go through the drive thru and grab a quick bite to eat.  Lastly, you try to sleep with a belly full of fatty foods.

Agony happens, because you are tossing and turning, and can’t sleep.

In the morning you grab an energy drink or an extra shot of espresso in your morning coffee to give you energy from a lack of a restful night’s sleep.

Thus, the vicious cycle continues.

End Stress With Deep Breathing:

Let’s look at what deep breathing does to the brain.

  • Tension begins to diminish
  • Oxygen is released from your brain
  • Blood pressure drops
  • Endorphins are released
  • Releases toxins
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Increases energy
  • Improves clarity
  • Your body relaxes

So, imagine what 15-20 mins will do for you.

52 Mins of Focus

Some may say that they can work large amounts of time, and some may be able to “handle” longer work periods.

Let’s break this down some more. Research specifies that the cognitive mind works well for 52 mins and then needs a breather.

A breather can help increase your oxygen levels.  Upon which, you are better able to focus,  because your body and mind rested for a bit.

Positive Results

Let’s focuses on the totality and functionality of your mind. Your brain works well for about 52 mins. Then it needs a breather.

You are more functional, better able to think and produce the most amazing results when you have a calm, relaxed mind.

Wouldn’t you rather function at your best?

This can also help you breeze through your work in less time.

Now who doesn’t like that idea?

Please be aware that you are in control and not the ego.

Study Says:

Recently, there was another study conducted that states that workers are less productive after meditation while working.  What the study did not include was on overall basis on how the “Monkey Mind” can create more stress and anxieties; but after meditation, workers were able to function in a manner that was more productive. The ego may continue to whine and procrastinate; how you choose to deal with your ego can create a peaceful or stressful situation.

And I can hear, but Natasha I work well under pressure. And I ask do you really? Take a look back at something that you were working on. Does this gleam YAHOO, super success or Uh oh, how’d I miss that…

Win – Win

Now look at this from a positive standpoint.  You took a break with deep breathing exercises. Now, look at how by slowing the mind, your body was able to intake more oxygen. This helped provide a way to calm the “Monkey-Mind,”  you to be  more relaxed and better functional.

To me that’s a win-win.

17 seconds of deep breathing:

Sit or Stand with your elbows slightly back.

Inhale as if you are breathing in the aroma of flower or cooking food for the count of 7 (mouth closed-inhaling through your nostrils)  and then hold for the count of 4.

Exhale as if you are blowing away a dandelion or bubble for the count of 6 with your mouth open.

Easey Peasy!

Calm Patience

Please be patient with yourself. This takes time to readjust your body; especially if you are not used to deep breathing.

Use your cell’s timer.

Begin with 1 minute of 17 seconds of deep breathing, That is three rounds or 51 seconds.

Your body will love you for this!

Work your way up to 3 mins; then 10 and so on.

Hey maybe you’ll get to 17 seconds of deep breathing in 17 mins.

WOW, calm, clear body and mind. AMAZING!!

Quiet Reflection

Try not think of anything else during your deep breathing.

Now, if your mind wanders, as it may, that’s okay. Just bring yourself back and begin again.

Cognitive distortion may happen; it is  a learned and taught behavior pattern. It takes time to un-do a life long habit and re-establish a new one.

RE- It’s all Latin to Me:

Take this moment to ponder and reflect upon you.

The re- prefix in latin means again.

Rest

Re-store = a place where goods are kept

Re-view= see

Re-flect = bend or curve

This is all about you.

“When you rest where your goods are kept you can see the light bend and curve back to you.”

True Feelings Angel

Why it is Okay to Share Your True Feelings

It is okay to share your true feelings. The real question is, “Do you feel safe to share your true feelings?”

Sharing Your Feelings

Once upon a time I shared my true feelings with another.  This came back and haunted me for years.  One, I was scared to death that anyone else would mistreat me in that manner.  Two, most people were not aware of my truth, and were quick to add judgement.  Yep, judge another. This is does not make sense to judge the one who’s feelings had been dismantled and misaligned from her own being. No one shall judge another, especially when one walks in a page 999; there are 998 pages before then.  We all have moments that have shaped us.

Judge No One

It is not okay to judge another.  Heck, it is not okay to impose your judgement of another on another individual.  Yet, there are times when we have all done this exact thing.  I recall a volatile work environment where judgment and condemnation was the foundation within the walls of this location.  This brings forth a hostile and unhealthy situation for all- even those who do not wish to participate.

We are all doing the best that we can.  No one has the critical analysis to bestow their opinions on another.  The old adage of do not judge a book by its cover or walk a mile in another’s shoes are great way to procure lack of judgement.

Caught Yourself Doing the Judging

Uh oh!  You’ve just caught yourself judging another.  Do not fret or worry. We all make mistakes. Gossiping is a mega human condition of the ego.  It is the internal celebration of competition. We do not need this; yet somehow if you accidentally slip; apologize to yourself, and create a projection of positive light energy of forgiveness to yourself and the whole situation.

Being Brave Enough to Change

I recently found myself in a group of others; I knew no one.  When someone mentioned something that I do not believe in; it was okay, it was accepted as my feelings and that was an amazing feeling. In that moment I felt as if I had found the Holy Grail and sippith from my Chalice of Divine Spiritual Waters. I felt safe to express me.

What about yourself? Once upon a time, I was super harsh on myself.  Super patient for others and none for me.  The worst feeling in the world was feeling unsafe and distrust for myself.  Yep, I did not trust me.  I did nothing wrong; I was scared to death that what happened in the past was forever and always.  Now, that does not mean that everyone is out to get me; nor does this mean that I am untrustable for being lead to believe that one cared about me, and used this against me. It means that I shall overcome what was done.  I am undoing the painful lessons and allowing myself the ability to trust again. In other words to feel safe.

Forgiveness of Self & Others

The ancient Hawaiian Mantra Ho’oponopono is a great tool to help with forgiveness.  Use your name, another’s name and/or situation. There is no wrong way to say this; so, if you wish to change the step- no worries.

Step 1: Surrender-– I’M SORRY

Step 2: Ask Forgiveness – PLEASE FORGIVE ME

Step 3: Gratitude – THANK YOU

Step 4: Love – I LOVE YOU

Feeling Emotionally Safe

  • Identify and challenge your toxic thoughts towards yourself.
  • Be open and speak up for yourself
  • Do not agree to everything.  Do not say yes when you really mean no.
  • Recognize that you may need assistance from another and that is okay.
  • Be Brave and ask for help.
  • Be consistent
  • Demonstrate commitment to you.
