Adjust Your Approach to Triggers and Change Your Mindset

You decide to make a change in your life. It’s a big deal and you wanna go for it; but, you don’t know how, and you’ve not been provided the steps on how to make this change. You hear about adjusting your mindset, and attmept to create the change. However, it backfires and you feel like a failure. So, now what. It’s not to say that you’re unintelligent, and assuming that you have all the answers is unfair. We all have expertise, something that we’re amazing at.

The old idea (fake it until you make it) is fading away and authenticity is much more powerful. It doesn’t mean that you have to have all the answers. I love driving my car, but I don’t desire to be the one to repair it when it breaks down; therefore, I go to an expert called the mechanic. It’s a win-win.

The same thing is true about how to identify what’s  a trigger. As well as how to effectively dissolve the trigger in a manner that works, and is not destructively ineffective.

Thus, this allows you to break a pattern. It is the acknowledgement and the recognition that brings forth the healing. This allows you to move through your emotions and feelings in a positive manner when you’re able to identify what upsets you and/or creates anxiety.

It’s going to be okay, and it’ll take a bit of adjustment and some time. Soon you’ll be about work with and through your emotions. This empowers your own personal development. Which can set you eons apart from those who have not learned how to effectively communicate with their inner being and soul.

How incredible is that? I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to be able to share this personal development tool and help your soul grow. Self-compassion and self-love are powerful empowerment tools.

Be patient with yourself. It takes time to unravel and undo learned behaviors and patterns. Think of this as a way to adjust your thought patterns from a negative to a more positive solution and outcome.

How to recognize a trigger:

A trigger is when you feel uncomfortable. As if you’re feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, afraid, anxious, or mad. Basically it’s your emotions. Next time you get triggered go through this process.

  • Stop allowing your emotions to control you.
  • Except that you have emotions.
  • Recognize that using your emotions to feel is your superpower.
  • Recognize when you feel uncomfortable.
  • Allow yourself to feel: whether it be sad, mad, happy.
  • Be honest with yourself. For example if a friend or relative shares good news and you feel envious. That’s an emotional trigger
  • Have you realized that when you’re having a conversation with another that a particular emotion or feeling emotes sensation that is uncomfortable and you just wished end the conversation as soon as possible?
  • Have you realized that when you were hanging out with family or friends that a particular conversation is uncomfortable, and you feel?

Moving Through the Trigger

A great way to recognize emotional triggers is to journal. Use one of the writing prompts below or free write. Have a conversation with yourself on a piece of paper. This is a great way for you to express how you’re feeling, what emotions are showing up for you, in a safe manner that is reflective and constructive. Practice a conversation that you would like to have with someone in the mirror or in your journal but do not create a false expectation. you are not in control of anyone else’s reactions emotions or feelings. You can only take care of you in this manner, and that’s okay.

Writing Prompts:

  1. Write about a conversation you wish you could have.
  2. Create a timeline of small events that led up to a big event in your life.
  3. Write a poem about the greatest joy or the greatest sorrow in your life right now.
  4. Describe your greatest insecurity and why you struggle with it.
  5. Choose a song that emotes deep emotions. Why does it?
  6. What is your greatest source of guilt and how can you forgive yourself?

Maybe journaling is not your thing. Doddle an image and add words to this image.

Be sure to recognize. Every pattern and trigger has a cycle, and when you are learning, there may be an old pattern that wishes to stop the cycle. Disallow this occurrence. When you stop a cycle this cycle will recycle. This is part of personal development and soul growth that until the lesson is learned it will continue onward at any cost; however when you are learning I’m you stop the cycle this can create more havoc than is necessary. Allow yourself to release, let’s go of the outcomes and expectations and flow into the experience. It takes time to adjust I’m not okay one step at a time is better than no steps or motion at all.

Moving Through the Pain

For a moment stop and ponder why you ignore or call you names.

Why do you dislike or dishonor yourself?

Who in your life created a way for you to do this?

Now, it is not about the blame game.  This is about getting to the root of it all.  Strong blooms, blossom better with strong roots.  So, we will explore and discover what is uprooting your girl.

Seek and you Shall Find

You are seeking happiness and solace. There is anxiety, worry or maybe dread. It does not have to be this way.

You will need 20-30 mins for this activity. Please enjoy this in a quiet space and light a while candle.

 Let’s Begin:

Meditation:  For a moment, close your eyes and see you at the age of 6. You are playing hide and seek.  What is the best hiding place to stay hidden?

Journal Time: Open your eyes and write this down.

Meditation: Next, close your eyes again. You are still in this perfect hiding spot. Hold out your hand and speak very softly in a sweet gentle manner. What does your inner girl do or say? Let her speak freely; allow her the freedom to express herself.

Journal Time: Open your eyes and write this down.

Meditation: Close your eyes again, and using a gentle, soft voice ask her what she needs.

Journal Time:  Open your eyes and write this down.

Meditation: Close your eyes, offer to sit with your inner girl.  Do not rush; especially if you have not spoken to her and spent time with her. She may shy and disbelieve you.  Use this meditation and journaling activity as much as you need.

Coming out of Hiding

Let go of all that you “think” you know, and allow your inner girl to connect with you. She will show you things about you, that even you may not remember nor recall. She is on your side, and wants the best for you. You are an incredible team. Grant her permission to be this cheerleader, teacher and guide.

Standing Tall with your Inner Girl Power:

  1.  Be Authentic! Be you like no one is watching. Dance, sing, wear that lavender hair.  Seriously, no one cares. “If no one likes what you are creating, just smile at them and tell them to go make their own fucking art.” – Elizabeth Gilbert
  2. Speak to your Inner Girl. Let the conversation keep flowing. Do not stop it. She needs to hear from you directly, fully and completely. Turn off the electronics and spend 15-20 mins a day with her. She is a powerful force deep within you; she is your biggest cheerleader and ally!
  3. Honor & Respect your Inner Girl. If you say to her that you will go for a walk, meditate, paint do it! She will retreat once again, and find it even more difficult to trust you. You deserve self-love and self-care! 
  4. Ask your Inner Girl  for advice. Going to get a mani/pedi, ask her what color or what type of bubble bath, essential oil, colors to paint/color with. She loves that you include her as she is you and you are she. Ask what’s a good idea for dinner. There’s all kinds of way to ask her for advice. 
  5. Support your Inner Girl. Your inner girl is deeply connected with you, so she may be a great siren to signal danger. When she does this, please disallow the ego to override her. Again, she has your best interest at heart. 
  6. Calm the inner anxious storm within. Your inner girl is handy at helping with the anxiety monster that gets out of hand. Ask her to hold you, take your hand and guide you. She will thrive and enjoy caring for you; as she is you and you are she. She is great at calming the woes, doubts and worries.

Now your inner girl is not an excuse. Oops, my inner girl got her freak on or my inner girl made me do it. Do not use her as scapegoat; she will not tolerate that.

A nice example is I wrestled for a year to incorporate pastel purple in my hair. Finally, after peekaboo attempts, I heard my inner girl, say, “Girl, just get over yourself and do it, trust me!” I ordered the pastel purple and very much enjoy the gorgeous lavender locks!! My inner girl was so spot on!

The Divine created us to be creative, and when the Sacral Chakra is fine tuned your creative Self expression easily flows through you.

Create 

The definition to create is to bring something into existence.  This is about bringing something forward with a joyful heart. Not everyone takes pleasure in the same creative journey. That’s the beauty of creative expression is the truly unique Self expression that belongs solely to you; this is yours and yours alone.

 

LIGHT ENERGY

We are energy light beings who thrive on energy.  This energy very much brings us expansion. The creative energy surges forth and asks us to create.  It is like your Sacral Chakra lights up and poof your magic begins.

 

Sexual Energy

A misstep of sexual energy  can occur when the Sacral Chakra is out of tune and misaligned. This can be over the top or none at all. We are created via the Divine for procreation, sensual and sexual energies to bring forth these creations.  However, we also not designed to forgo.  The American culture seems enamored with female breasts; the more the better in most movies.

Other cultures look to the female yoni/womb as the most sensually alluring.  This is the preemptiveness of the creative flow within. Allowing the sexual energy to flow also helps the expressive ways to come forward.  Suppression of sensual/sexual disallows the overall continuance of another.

 

Energy Express 

Energy can be clouded, convoluted and/or stuck.  It is about an open flow of giving and receiving. Ponder a light bulb, when the conduit is open the energy current flows and there is light. When it is shut off then there is no energy and there is no light- no energy.  Your energy being Self works in the same manner.  When you are in the flow, you are open and allowing to give and receive. When you are not, then your are stuck or blocked from that pattern of the Divine to creatively express yourSelf.

 

Self expression

Not everyone has the same interests, creative skills or Self Expression.  This is the beauty to use all of your senses: see, hear, smell, taste and touch.  Essentially, this is about Self Expression. What is in you that can come forth if you so choose to allow this?

Since, we all have differences what is created via self expression is a echo of a joyful soul. The most inward, endearing moments.  Not all joy has bells and whistles.  How one chooses to express themselves is part of the evolution of the soul.  Releasing and letting go of that which no longer serves you is part of the creation of giving and receiving.

Not all Self Expression is in the form of Art. This is anything that is brought into existence.

The most natural way to nurture yourSelf is through creation.

How often have you thought it must be a certain way or it does not count or why bother?

You are Uniquely, Quirky YOU and you deserve to Express yourSelf in a manner that makes your heart happy.  So, if you enjoy working on cars that brings forth peace to a motor to run smoothly, so be it.  If you enjoy writing from your heart, so be it.  If you enjoy any form of a hobby that brings something into existence and you have a happy heart as a result of this; this is the epitome of Creative Self Expression.

6 Ways of Creative Self Expression

  • Sing or Play an Instrument (even if your are singing along in your car; this is a way for your heart to bring forth your happiness and joy)
  • Write (Journal, write a blog, write a poem or book)
  • Use a Thesaurus (find different ways to say the same thing-Happy: Joy, Delighted, Content)
  • Draw or paint your feelings
  • Dance or move your body (through movement)
  • Role Play (act out, play a game, be someone else for a moment to show or practice expressing your feelings)
